John Reid Officially Confirmed on GOP Primary Ballot for Lt Governor of Virginia

Richmond, VA — April 7, 2025

Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor, John Reid, has met the requirements for ballot access in order to run in the Virginia state-wide June 17 primary according to official statements published today by the Virginia Department of Elections and the Republican Party of Virginia.

Upon receiving notification of his acceptance on the June ballot, Reid stated, "I’m so thankful that I’ve had the chance to crisscross the state over the last several weeks meeting and talking to voters of all perspectives and hearing their support for reasonable and responsible Republican policies that I have espoused for decades."

Reid's grassroots volunteer team brought in more than the required 10,000 signatures of registered Virginia voters in order to qualify for the ballot for state-wide office. Said Reid, "I'm grateful for my state-wide volunteer team and for the chance to help save Virginia from the violence and terrible ideas that radical Democrats keep pushing."

Businessman and broadcaster, Reid began his career as former President Ronald Reagan’s last intern and press assistant in Los Angeles. Reid spent 10 years as a television news anchor in Richmond and was president of the U.S. Senate Press Secretaries Association in Washington while also serving as a communications director for a variety of groups including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Most recently he was the award-winning host of the popular WRVA morning drive news talk program for 8 years.

He has lived, worked and/or traveled in 113 countries and makes his home in his native Henrico County with his partner, Alonzo.

Reid is endorsed for Lt. Governor by former Virginia Governors George Allen and Jim Gilmore.
